Post-Processing Flexibility

Inconel 718 parts can be easily post-hardened through precipitation-hardening heat treatments. In both as-built and age-hardened states, these parts can be machined, spark eroded, welded, micro shot-peened, polished, and coated as required. Despite its remarkable properties, the material’s anisotropy, due to the layerwise building method, must be considered in the design process.
